Police Investigate Stabbing Incident – 1200 Block of N. Walnut

Today, at approximately 12:20 PM, Champaign Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 Block of N. Walnut Street after receiving report of an apparent stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 33-year-old female with multiple stab wounds to her hands and torso.  The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Preliminary evidence suggests that the incident resulted from an isolated domestic argument that turned violent.  James Burgoon, 54-year-old male from Champaign, and stepfather to the victim, was arrested for the offense.  Burgoon faces preliminary charges of Aggravated Domestic Battery.
