This morning, at approximately 9:17 AM, Champaign Police Officers responded to Busey Bank, located at 2011 W. Springfield Avenue for a reported bank robbery.
According to bank staff, a suspect entered the bank and demanded money; implying but not displaying a weapon. The suspect was handed an undetermined amount of currency and the suspect then fled on foot in a westbound direction. No injuries were reported.
Police are interviewing witnesses from the bank and the immediate area. The suspect is described as a Black male, possibly in his early to middle 40’s, approximately 5’06” to 5’08” in height, approximately 160 pounds with a medium build and dark facial hair. The suspect was seen wearing all-black clothing and dark-framed eyeglasses.
