Legal Department Assists In Gaining Compliance
On February 25, 2016, a complaint was received concerning the exterior condition of the house at 301 S Elm. Property Maintenance Inspector Kim Burnett conducted an inspection of the property and issued a Housing Violation Notice. Throughout the year, contact was maintained with the owner and reinspections were performed with two extension agreements entered. Due to slow progress, the case was ultimately referred to the City Legal Department for enforcement. A letter from the City Legal Department was issued in January 2017. The property owner emailed a proposed contract for repairs to the City Legal Department who forwarded the information to Inspector Burnett. Contact was established with the contractor to inquire about the completion date. The contractor informed Burnett, that the work was complete. On March 1, Burnett reinspected the property and found all violations had been corrected and the case was closed.
