A series of public events were held recently in City Council Chambers to provide information to the public ahead of the November election. City staff worked with local groups to hold candidate forums on September 29 and October 7, and a Unit 4 referendum panel discussion on October 5. All events were televised live on CGTV. Events were hosted and sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County, the NAACP of Champaign County, and the News-Gazette.
The September 29 forum featured candidates for the offices of Champaign County Auditor, Champaign County State’s Attorney, and Champaign County Recorder of Deeds. The October 5 forum featured candidates for the 52nd Illinois Senate District, Champaign County Coroner,and Champaign County Board District 11 seats. A Unit 4 Referendum Panel Discussion was held on October 7.
