Neighborhood Services Department Coordination Staff, Champaign Police Department, and Councilmember Angie Brix attended the Northwest Parkland Ridge Neighborhood Watch Meeting on Thursday, August 17. Approximately 25 residents from the neighborhood watch group and surrounding areas attended the meeting to share information and their concerns. The group met to discuss concerns related to increased crime in the area specifically auto burglaries and home break-ins. Champaign Police shared proactive steps that individuals could take to protect themselves and web links to information for residents to monitor criminal activity in their neighborhood. NSD Coordination Staff discussed the registered group organizing process, resources available to registered groups, and the use of NeighborsofChampaign.com as an engagement tool to inform and engage residents.
