The Public Works Concrete Section recently replaced the badly deteriorated brick entryway at the Champaign Police Department which had become unsightly and dangerous. The bricks had become a tripping hazard to the public as well as CPD personnel. The bricks were removed and a new concrete surface was formed in its place. The front entrance had to be closed during the project with an alternate entry way set up on the north side of the building. Originally projected as a three to four-day project, the Concrete Crew was able to complete it in less than one workday and the entrance was back open to the public by 4 p.m. the same day.
