Champaign Police Make Arrest in Shooting Incident

On March 30, 2016 at approximately 5:01 PM, Champaign Police responded to the area of Mattis North Apartments, located at 2000 N. Mattis Ave. in Champaign after receiving multiple calls of gunshots being heard. Upon arrival, officers located a 31 year-old male subject that sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Carle Hospital with serious injuries.

Champaign Police Detectives have continued to investigate this incident, interviewing numerous witnesses and individuals, while also processing additional information and evidence. As a result, Detectives developed information leading to the identity of a suspect in this incident.

On April 1, 2016, an arrest warrant was issued for Jeremy K. Robinson, a 31 year-old male from Champaign, IL. for the offense of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. Bond on the warrant was set at $500,000.

This afternoon, Champaign Police Detectives arrested Mr. Robinson in the 600 block of W. Park St. in Urbana without incident, and he was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center. He will appear in Arraignment Court on Monday, April 4, 2016.

Although originally injured by gunfire on the night of the incident, as the investigation progressed information was developed that suggested Mr. Robinson was involved in the shooting incident, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
