On March 9, 2016, Police made three arrests following search warrants that were served in conjunction with on-going investigations by the Street Crimes Task Force (SCTF) and with assistance from METRO SWAT and Champaign Police SWAT units.
Arrested was 25-year-old Martez L. Taylor and 25-year-old Darius M. Erving, of 1405 Eater Drive, Rantoul. Discovered during the search warrant to Taylor and Erving’s residence was the following evidence:
- Approximately 25 grams of heroin (packaged for sale)
- 8 grams of powder cocaine
- 2.5 grams of crack cocaine (packaged for sale)
- 24.5 grams of cannabis
- Digital scales
- United States Currency
- 14 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition
Taylor and Erving were both charged with possession with intent to deliver controlled substances (15-100 grams) and possession with intent to deliver cannabis. Erving is currently on parole with the Illinois Department of Corrections until March 30, 2016 for a prior conviction for Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.
Also arrested was 28-year-old Terron Jake of 1520 Hobson Dr., Apt #4, Rantoul. During the search warrant to Jake’s home, officers discovered:
- Cannabis
- Digital scales
- United States Currency
Jake was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis (30-500grams).
All individuals in these matters were transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center where they await formal charges.
Although arrests have been made, investigations remain ongoing. The SCTF asks that anyone with information related to these incidents contact the Champaign Police Department Investigations Division at 217-351-4545.
