Champaign Police Make Arrest in Shooting Investigation                                   

On January 28, 2016 at approximately 6:32 PM, Champaign Police responded to 1503 N. Neil Street in Champaign for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 29 year old male that had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Carle Hospital in serious condition.

During this investigation, Champaign Police Detectives developed information that led to the identity of the suspect. As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for Jason R. Eatman, a 34 year old male from Champaign for the offenses of Attempted First Degree Murder, and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Both are Class X felony offenses, bond on the warrant was set at $2,000,000.

On January 30, 2016 at approximately 12:44 PM, Mr. Eatman was arrested without incident in the 200 block of Kenwood Dr.in Champaign by Champaign Police Detectives and Deputies from the United States Marshals Service – Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force.

Although an arrest has been made, the investigation remains on going. Champaign Police Detectives ask that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Champaign Police Investigations Division at 217-351-4545.
