Champaign Police Investigate Bank Robbery at First Midwest Bank

Champaign Police Investigate Bank Robbery
(First Midwest Bank – 812 W. Springfield Ave)

At approximately 9:30 AM, Champaign Police Officers responded to the First Midwest Bank located at 812 W. Springfield Ave. for a reported bank robbery.  After entering the bank, the suspect produced a handgun, demanded money, and was last seen leaving northbound on foot from the bank. No injuries were reported.

Officers and Detectives from the Champaign Police Department are currently interviewing witnesses from the bank and immediate area. The Champaign Police Department Crime Scene Unit is currently processing the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age. The suspect is reported to be approximately 5’06” in height and approximately 240 pounds with a “stocky” build. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hat/mask, a blue and white colored plaid shirt, dark colored pants, and white colored tennis shoes. The suspect also carried a dark colored messenger bag and was reportedly armed with a dark colored handgun.  See suspect photo HERE.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of anyone who commits a felony or is a fugitive in Champaign County.
