Champaign Police Make Arrest in Shooting Investigation

On Monday, October 19, 2015, at approximately 5:30 PM, Champaign Police responded to the 600 block of W. Beardsley Ave. in Champaign for a reported shooting. During this incident, two individuals were struck by gunfire, including Jeremy O’Neal who succumbed to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound.

After follow-up from several leads and two weeks of investigations, Champaign Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office, obtained an arrest warrant for Kyjuan Dorsey, a 19-year-old male from Urbana, for the offense of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. Bond was set at $500,000.

On Friday, October 30, 2015, at approximately 9:46 AM, Champaign Police Department Detectives, with the assistance of the United State’s Marshal’s Service, arrested Kyjuan Dorsey in connection with the October 19th shooting.
