Police Arrest Wanted Subject in May 23 Shooting

On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, Champaign Police Detectives, along with the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Diego R. Christmon in the 2000 block of North Mattis Ave. in Champaign. Christmon is a 25-year-old male from Champaign who was wanted for the May 23, 2015 shooting in the 1300 block of Hedge Road.

The May 23 shooting resulted in one person receiving serious injury after being shot multiple times.  As a result of investigations, Champaign Police were able to identify Christmon as the suspect in the incident and obtained an arrest warrant for the offense of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony.  Bond on the warrant was set at $2,000,000.
