Champaign Fire Department responded to a report of a working fire at 31 Howard Drive on June 15, 2015 at 6:02 p.m. Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke emitting from a detached garage in the backyard of the residence. Fire crews deployed multiple hand lines into the structure in an attempt to extinguish the fire. Fire crews encountered moderate fire inside the structure and were able to extinguish the fire quickly. No fire personnel or civilian injuries were reported. Champaign Police were on scene and assisted with traffic control. The Champaign Fire Department reminds residents to always have working smoke detectors.
