This year’s annual slurry seal project was completed on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Micro-surfacing Contractors LLC from Peoria, Illinois sealed 110,436 square yards (15.7 lane miles) of oil and chip type streets in the southwestern one-third of the City. A new process called Fiber-Mat was tried this year on Green Street, John Street, and Duncan Road; this process used fiberglass strands embedded into the roadway to strengthen it and helps reduce cracking. Fourteen (14) manholes were adjusted up to match the current roadway surface elevation. See attached map for locations sealed this year.
