WHAT:
A press conference will be held to announce the Street Crimes Task Force unit, created with membership from the Champaign Police Department, the Urbana Police Department, the University of Illinois Police Department, and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.  Formed in response to the increased gun violence in our community, the primary function of the Task Force is to address and reduce gun crimes in Champaign-Urbana.  The Task Force will utilize Intelligence-led policing methods to address known offenders and their associates involved in criminal activity, as well as address hot spots and problem areas identified by the participating agencies.
