Neighborhood Services Director Kevin Jackson and Neighborhood Programs Manager Kerri Spear were joined by Grants Management Manager Kelly Mierkowski (City of Urbana) during the January 6 Study Session regarding the City’s Housing Strategy and upcoming Consolidated Plan process. Several citizens participated in the public participation portion of the study session and public hearing. Staff received phone calls the following day from two citizens with suggestions and questions based on the study session presentation that encouraged citizens to call (217) 403-7070.
Feedback received during the Study Session led to staff adding several public meeting dates. This will allow for additional opportunities for the public to assist in identifying potential goals and strategies for the draft plan. Additional public meetings to review the draft plan were also added during the 30-day public comment period (March 20 – April 20). These meetings will provide the public additional opportunities to comment on the draft plan in addition to the scheduled study session and public hearing on April 14, 2015.
Staff will continue to share the meeting schedule and important information links throughout the process to those who have expressed an interest or are representing various stakeholder groups. The full public input schedule is listed below and the public is encouraged to contact Neighborhood Services at (217) 403-7070 on the day of these proposed meetings for any scheduling changes.
