As the fall semester begins at the University of Illinois, the City of Champaign is holding a move in/out recycle event from August 15-25, 2014. Cardboard dumpsters will be placed around the Campustown area with the purpose of providing students living in multifamily buildings (apartments, condos; co-ops with 5 or more units), fraternities, sororities, and other shared housing the opportunity to properly dispose of cardboard that does not fit into their ‘Feed the Thing’ carts. This helps reduce the amount of materials entering the waste stream.
Participants in the Feed the Thing recycling program can take their cardboard to any of these locations on the following days:
August 15-23
400 E. Chalmers between Fourth and Fifth Streets
August 15-25
500 S. Third between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street
August 20-25
300 E. Clark between Third and Fourth Streets
600 E. Clark between Sixth and Wright Streets
100 S. Fifth between University Avenue and Clark Street
200 S. Fifth between Clark Street and White Street
500 S. Fifth between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street
100 E. Chalmers between First and Second Streets
300 E. Chalmers between Third and Fourth Streets
800 S. First between John and Daniel Streets
1000 S. Locust between Chalmers Street and Armory Avenue
Cardboard can be dropped off at all of these locations anytime during these dates. Champaign residents not in the multifamily recycling program have curbside recycling collection available through their garbage hauler at no additional cost to their garbage service. Residents should contact their garbage hauler directly for more information.
