In order to prepare a permanent home for the Champaign Park District’s Roger Ebert sculpture, work was recently done in the parkway outside the Virginia Theater. A portion of a landscape bed was removed and replaced with sidewalk to make room for the sculpture and give plenty of space for photo opportunities. In addition, a light pole was removed, bollards were added, and a brick band was placed behind the street curb. Very soon, the Park District will be putting plantings in the remaining landscape bed and setting the sculpture. The work was done by Feutz Contractors, Inc., at a cost of approximately $14,000.
