Residential Electronics Collection

APRIL 12 Countywide Residential Electronics Collection at Parkland College

Area residents are invited to bring old or unwanted electronic items to the upcoming Countywide Residential Electronics Collection to have these items responsibly recycled or refurbished. Teams of community service volunteers will be on hand to unload electronic items from residents’ vehicles. No fees will be collected from persons dropping off items.

The collection will take place Saturday, April 12, from 8:00 am to noon at the Parkland College Campus, Parking Lot M-4, located at 2400 W. Bradley Avenue, Champaign. Participants are asked to access the collection at the Duncan Road entrance.

Electronics to be accepted at the April 12 Countywide Residential Electronics Collection will include: televisions of any type; computers, laptops, monitors; home entertainment electronic items (VCRs, Betamax, DVD players, cassette players, Blue Ray players, 8-track players, turntables, etc.); kitchen electronic items or smaller kitchen appliances (blenders, food processors, toasters, microwaves, etc.); bathroom electronic items (curling irons, flat irons, night lights, electric razors, electric toothbrushes, clocks, blow dryers, etc.); office electronic equipment (printers, scanners, copiers, etc.); and dehumidifiers.

Parkland College, Champaign County Regional Planning Commission, City of Urbana, City of Champaign, and Village of Savoy are supporters of the 2014 Countywide Residential Electronics Collections. Com2 Recycling Solutions will handle and process all electronics items collected.

Com2 Recycling Solutions is certified both as an e-Steward and R2 company, managing collected electronics equipment according to the highest industry standards, with no landfilling of electronics or electronics components (www.com2recycling.com).
