The Champaign Police Department hosted its second annual Open House for the community on May 18, 2013 from 10 am to 2 pm. The event was held during National Police Week (May 12-18, 2013), an event recognizing the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement.
The event provided an opportunity for the public to have fun, meet the Police Chief and staff, and learn more about the police department. There were tours of the police department conducted by employees and retired CPD Officers, presentations and demonstrations by the EOD Unit and SWAT Team and displays by the Hostage Negotiations Team, K-9 Unit and Crime Scene Technicians. There was also a historical display and activities for the whole family.
