Get your car ready for the stress of summer with help from local car care experts and the online Auto Repair Reference Center. The Champaign Public Library is hosting a free, hour-long summer car care workshop at the library on Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. Derek Scroggins, Ford City service manager, will offer general tips. Parts Manager Mark Shepherd will answer questions about parts and supplies. At the end of the program, a technician will be available to look at your car and give you specific pointers.
In addition, library staff will demonstrate the Auto Repair Reference Center, an online database of information from ASE-certified technicians available free of charge through the library website. The Auto Repair Reference Center gives easy access to step-by-step instructions for most repair procedures plus wiring diagrams, maintenance specifications, and technical service bulletins for cars, trucks, vans and SUVs from 1954 to today. Home access to this resource is available only to Champaign library cardholders, but anyone can use it on a computer at the library.
Registration is not required to attend the workshop. Participants should park on the west side of the library parking lot, at 200 W. Green St. For more information, contact the library at [email protected] or by calling 217/403-2070.
