As part of the City’s 2013 Concrete Street Maintenance Project, the pavement on Peach Street from Ashley Lane South to the cul-de-sac on the south end of Peach Street will be rehabilitated. The City’s contractor for the project, GM Sipes Construction, will begin work, weather permitting, Monday, May 13, 2013.
Peach Street will temporarily be a one-lane, one-way street from Ashley Lane South to Devonshire Drive (traffic one way from north to south). The contractor will provide a flagger as needed to help direct traffic. Please be aware that there will also be temporary lane closures adjacent to the work while the new concrete is being placed. Peach Street will remain open to local and emergency traffic only.
This work involves patching of the existing concrete pavement, complete replacement of some portions of pavement, sidewalk repairs, and lawn restoration.
Please pay close attention to construction signs and traffic control devices; do not park on the street near the construction site or in areas that are posted “No Parking.” Please proceed cautiously through construction zones and use alternate routes whenever possible. The contractor will attempt to complete construction activities as soon as possible to minimize any inconvenience to the residents in the areas of construction.
The City of Champaign would like to thank you for your cooperation and patience during this construction season. A map showing this location along with all 2013 City Engineering Division projects can be found at www.ci.champaign.il.us/pwd, click on “2013 Construction Maps” under “Timely Topics.”
