Champaign police are currently searching for a suspect involved in robbing Regions Bank at 10:35 AM this morning.
According to witnesses, a man entered the bank and demanded money. Although a gun was never displayed, the suspect implied having one. He was then given an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the area on foot. He was last seen heading north toward University Avenue.
There were several employees and customers in the bank at the time of the robbery.
However, none reported being physically harmed.
The suspect is described as a black male 22-23 years old, 5’5” – 5’6” tall who was carrying a black book bag. He wore a blue shirt, khaki pants or jeans and black gym shoes. The suspect also wore a black head band and black hood on his head. During the robbery, the suspect also covered the lower part of his face to disguise himself.
Police are currently searching for the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
