Starting Monday, October 22, 2012, the Canadian National/Illinois Central Railroad will CLOSE Springfield Avenue (IL Route 10) to remove and replace the rough crossing located west of Duncan Road. The crossing replacement work is expected to be completed and Springfield Avenue reopened within seven to 10 days.
The work consists of removing the current poor condition crossing, replacing the rail and ties, installing a new concrete crossing, and a small amount of asphalt paving work.
CN/IC will install traffic control signage to detour all Springfield Avenue traffic to Illinois Route 47, Interstate 72, and Mattis Avenue.
