The City of Champaign will honor Mr. Lum Rose, Sr. by dedicating a portion of Sixth Street, between Washington Street and Grove Street, as Honorary Lum Rose Way. The honorary street signs will be unveiled on Friday, October 19, 2012, at 1 p.m. during a ceremony at the southwest corner of Sixth Street and Washington Street in Champaign.
Mr. Rose was the co-owner of Rose & Taylor Barber Shop from 1975 until his retirement in 2008. He was a barber for nearly 55 years, over 40 of those years were in Champaign. Mr. Rose was born on September 1, 1932 and passed away on September 28, 2012.
