Yesterday, at approximately 1:50 PM officers were dispatched to the area of Williamsburg and Thornton Drive for a report of an armed subject who pointed a gun at a 28 year-old Champaign woman.
The victim reported to police that a male, sitting in the front passenger seat of a silver car, pointed a gun in her direction and drove out of the area. The silver car was later located by detectives and was eventually stopped in the 600 block of W. Beardsley Avenue. As officers approached the car, the 20 year-old male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was located and arrested in the 600 block of W. Bradley Avenue. Officers also detained three males, ages 17, 18 and 19, who were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the stop. All four young men were interviewed at the Champaign Police Department; three of them were later released. During a search of the vehicle a handgun was found under the driver’s seat.
Daveyonta Fairman, 17, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of Weapons. He was transported to the Champaign County Jail.
The driver, 20 year-old Kendrick Rogers, was issued a citation for Driving Without a License.
