On Thursday, June 28, the City, along with Integrys Energy Services mailed approximately 10,000 opt-in letters for the Municipal Electric Aggregation (MEA) program. These letters were sent to residents and small commercial businesses (using less than 15,000 kwh per year) who are not eligible for automatic enrollment in the MEA program. The enrollment deadline is July 7 and may be done by contacting Integrys Energy Services by phone at 888-491-1362 or online at www.integrysenergy.com/optintochampaign. Notification letters from Ameren were also sent to residents and small business that qualified for automatic enrollment in the MEA program. This letter confirmed Integrys Energy Services as the new electric supplier. On Monday, July 2, City staff experienced a significant spike in calls from residents and small businesses about the opt-in letters they received over the past weekend. The most frequently asked question from these calls was how I can enroll in the MEA program. City staff along with Integrys Energy Services will continue to field call inquiries from residents and businesses about the opt-in and opt-out process.
