On tonight at approximately 10:46 p.m. an accident occurred at the intersection of Elm Street and Springfield Avenue after a man allegedly fled from Urbana police officers during an attempted traffic stop.
The suspect vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed while heading westbound on University Avenue. Champaign police officers encountered the vehicle after it had collided with a car at Elm St. and Springfield Avenue.
The male suspect and female victim were both transported to Carle hospital for treatment. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries. The status of the suspect is unknown. No further information is at this time.
