Suspect Identified, Warrant Issued in Dec. 24, 2018, Shooting Investigation

 

Champaign Police have identified Mario Turner (pictured) as the suspect in a Dec. 24, 2018 Christmas Eve shooting investigation that resulted in one individual being hospitalized.

On the evening of Dec. 24, at approximately 10:33 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1400 block of North McKinley Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers did not locate a victim but were later informed a 32-year-old male had arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury from a gunshot wound.

 

In connection with the shooting, a warrant has been issued for Turner’s arrest for the charge of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Bond on the warrant was set at $250,000.

Turner is described as a 38-year-old male, 6 feet tall and approximately 260 pounds with brown eyes and dark hair.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.

Although an individual has been charged in this offense, Champaign Police reminds the public all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
