Champaign Police Investigate Pedestrian & Motor Vehicle Accident

This evening, at approximately 5:53 PM, Champaign Police Officers responded to the 900 Block of W. Bradley Avenue in Champaign after receiving a report of a motor vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, it was apparent that a pedestrian had been struck while attempting to cross the street.  The victim, a 76-year-old female of Champaign, was immediately transported to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was crossing the street at the intersection of W. Bradley and N. Willis Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle heading east bound on Bradley.  The driver of the vehicle, a 45-year-old male from Urbana has been cooperative with police, and initial investigations revealed no apparent signs of driver impairment.
