As part of its Risk Management program, the City maintains a membership in the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). Risk Manager Larry Krause is the City’s representative and is on the board of the Mid-Illinois Chapter of RIMS. The chapter meets monthly from September through April with presentations on a variety of risk management topics.
Larry Krause arranged for a tour for the chapter of the Illinois Fire Service Institute, lead by Firefighting Program Director Tad Schroeder and Ann Jack-Haluzak, a former METCAD telecommunicator. On Tuesday September 16, a group of 10 risk management professionals participated in the tour of the facility, learned about training offered there and risk management techniques that the staff uses in training firefighters.
The group came away very impressed with the depth and breadth of training the institute offers.
