On March 24, 2021, Mary Catherine Roberson (Community Relations Specialist in the Office of Equity, Community and Human Rights) moderated the Summit of Hope – a virtual resource fair for members of the formerly incarcerated community. This event was coordinated in partnership with the Illinois Department of Corrections, Illinois Department of Public Health, the Champaign County Community Coalition, and the Champaign County Reentry Council. Returning residents received information from various presenters, including the Housing Authority, Express Employment Professionals, and Parkland College regarding local resources available to them. This event was marketed through parole and probation to ensure outreach to the target audience.
