City of Champaign Extends Due Dates, Waives Late Fees to Provide Relief to Local Businesses

On April 21, 2020, City Manager Dorothy David, pursuant to the authority granted to her through Council Bill 2020-022, extended due dates and waived late fees until June 30, 2020, for the following self-reported taxes and invoices: Food and Beverage Taxes, Hotel/Motel Taxes, Local Motor Fuel Taxes, and Multifamily Recycling invoices. This extension applies to self-reported taxes collected between February and May 2020 that otherwise would have been due between March and June 2020. This extension also covers Multifamily Recycling fees from February through May 2020 that otherwise would have been due between March and June 2020.

Businesses with pending City tax collection hearings were also given an extended opportunity to pay any delinquent taxes by June 30, 2020.  Any pending hearings will be rescheduled after that date and effected businesses will be notified by mail.
