Arrest Warrant Issued in Homicide Investigation

On May 5, 2019, at approximately 1:49 a.m., Champaign Police Officers responded to an apartment complex parking lot in the 400 block of Edgebrook Dr. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 21-year-old male victim, later identified as Scott Roth, who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Mr. Roth was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Isaiah CainChampaign Police developed information which led to a court authorized arrest warrant for First Degree Murder for 28-year old Isaiah Depriest Cain (pictured above) of Champaign. Cain is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. Bond on the warrant was set at $2,000,000. Information suggests Cain may have cut his dreadlocks in an attempt to alter his appearance. Cain is also known to have sustained a recent hand injury and may have a cast on his arm.

Although a warrant has been issued, this is still an active investigation. Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to call Champaign Police at 217-351-4545. Police will arrange to speak privately with you.
