The City’s Community Relations Office organized the third CU Fresh Start Call In that was held March 8, 2018, at the Illinois Terminal. This impactful meeting allowed local law enforcement and community members to directly address those known to be involved in local gun violence. Nine targeted offenders were the focus of the meeting, and each was given a choice to put down their guns and accept community support and resources to turn their lives around, or to face the swift and certain consequences for their continued criminal behaviors. Approximately 34 community members attended this invitation-only meeting. Following the Call In, a group of panelists answered questions from the media.
