Police Make Arrest in Sex Crime Investigation

In November of 2015, the Champaign Police Department began an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship between a student of Gerber School, located in Urbana and a staff member from the facility. The allegations indicate that the incidents took place in 2014 at the faculty member’s private residence in Champaign.

During the police investigation, Champaign Police Detectives presented the case to the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office for consideration of criminal charges. As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for Jimmy T. McCrory, a 31 year old male from Champaign, for the offense of Criminal Sexual Assault. Bond on the warrant was set at $500,000. On February 4, 2016, Champaign Police officers located Mr. McCrory in the 2000 block of W. Kirby Avenue in Champaign, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Although an arrest has been made, the investigation into this incident is ongoing. Champaign Police Detectives ask that anyone with information relating to this incident to contact the Champaign Police Department Investigations Division at 217-351-4545.
