Boneyard Creek projects received an award Friday May 4, 2012 at the American Public Works Association (APWA), Illinois Chapter Annual Meeting in Peoria. The Boneyard Creek Second Street Detention Project and associated Logan Street Storm Sewer Improvements Project were jointly awarded the Public Works Project of the Year 2012 in the category of Environment, $10 Million to $100 Million.
Engineer for the projects was Foth Infrastructure & Environment, Champaign, Illinois. The contractor for the Second Street Detention Project was O’Neil Bros. The contractor for the Logan Street Storm Sewer Improvements Project was Feutz Contractors. The projects were substantially complete at the end of 2010.

In 2010, the Scott Park portion of the Boneyard Creek Second Street Reach was given a similar award in the category of Environment, $2 Million to $10 Million. In 2000, the Phase 1 Boneyard Creek Improvements Project was given an award in the category of Environment, $10 Million to $100 Million.
Champaign Public Works projects have won awards from the APWA, Illinois Chapter for three years in a row, starting in 2010 with the Boneyard Creek Channel Improvements, Scott Park. Other projects receiving awards were: in 2010, City Building Masonry Rehabilitation Project, Historic Restoration/Preservation, Less Than $2 Million; and in 2011, Curtis Road Improvements, Transportation, and $10 Million to $100 Million.
