Several registered neighborhood groups hosted National Night Out celebrations throughout Champaign.
The United Garden Hills Neighborhood Association held their celebration in Garden Hills Park. The super-hero themed event included food, and games.
The Ridgewood South Neighborhood Association held their event in Johnston Park. Neighbors enjoyed games, food, and fellowship.
Finally, the Timberline Valley South HOA held an ice cream social in one of their common areas.
Night Out is celebrated annually on the first Tuesday in August to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Registered neighborhood groups are able to apply for a special one-time small grant up to $500 to cover costs of the National Night Out events.
