The initial investigation indicated that the victim was in the outdoor common area of the apartment complex when subjects approached the victim and opened fire. The victim was struck multiple times by gunfire before the offenders fled the area. A scene was located with evidence of gunfire, including multiple shell casings and damage to a building.
Two subjects were arrested on the night of the incident, including a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Champaign. On Thursday, July 31, 2025, an additional subject – a 17-year-old male from Champaign – was also arrested for his role in this incident. Due to the ages of all three subjects, Champaign Police cannot share names. Two firearms were recovered during the July 15th investigation.
