The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-family home at 1305 Maplepark Dr., Friday, November 3, at 3:40 a.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the small fire.
Firefighters responded to a report from a Champaign Police Department Officer of a fire at the front of this one-story residence. The Officer was able to assist the occupant out of the home prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. Once on the scene, fire crews reported fire coming from the front door. Firefighters deployed a single hose line and kept the fire from extending further in the home.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.
The Champaign Fire Department reminds everyone to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
