The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire inside a vacant 6-unit apartment building at 805 S. Mattis Ave., November 28, 2022, at 1:15 p.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire inside this multi-family apartment building.
Firefighters responded to a report from a passerby of a fire in this three-story building. Once on the scene, firefighters reported smoke coming from a third-floor apartment. Fire crews deployed a single hose line and quickly extinguished the fire primarily contained to a third-floor unit.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. No firefighter injuries were reported.
