How can our community work together to support student success? The latest episode of Champaign Spotlight features a conversation with the Equity and Engagement Department’s Community Relations Manager, Tracy Parsons, about a new school attendance initiative called “Every Student Everyday”.
Communications Manager Natalie Kenny Marquez and Parsons discuss how the City of Champaign, Urbana School District 116, Champaign Unit 4, law enforcement, and community partners are collaborating to highlight the importance of students attending school consistently. Regular attendance plays a key role in academic achievement, school climate, and students’ long-term outcomes.
The episode also introduces viewers to the Champaign County Community Coalition, a monthly open meeting that brings together residents, organizations, and leaders to collaborate on critical community issues. The coalition serves as a starting point for community-wide initiatives and provides opportunities for individuals and organizations to get involved.
Watch the full episode to learn how the initiative began, why attendance matters at all grade levels, and how community members can support local schools.
