Neighborhood Services staff Habitat for Humanity Home Dedication

Neighborhood Services Director, Rob Kowalski with the recipient family at the Habitat for Humanity Home DedicationNeighborhood Services staff attended the Green Family Home Dedication on September 25. They joined Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County, partners, and neighbors to celebrate the Green family’s new home and the community effort that made it possible. The house was built on the site of a former neighborhood pool. When the homeowners association could no longer care for the pool, it donated the land to the City. The City then provided the lot to Habitat for Humanity. Earlier this summer, City staff helped advance the project by installing siding.

Rob Kowalski, Neighborhood Services Director, spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in making affordable housing a reality. Ms. Green, a Unit 4 food service employee, lifelong Champaign resident, and Central High School graduate, is now a proud homeowner. This project highlights the City’s commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods and turning vacant properties into community assets.
