City of Champaign Invites Residents to the Welcoming Week Family Festival on September 21 in Downtown Champaign

The City of Champaign invites residents and neighbors of all ages to come together for the Welcoming Week Family Festival – a family-friendly event celebrating immigrants in our community. The Festival will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 12:00–3:00 PM at the Downtown Champaign Plaza (corner of Neil and Main Streets).

The Festival will feature an afternoon full of cultural performances, family activities, food trucks, and interactive engagement for all ages. It’s more than a celebration—it’s a space where community connections and cross-cultural appreciation are front and center. This event is free and open to the public. The City encourages individuals and families from all cultures, backgrounds, and identities to participate, connect, and celebrate together as one community.

With more than 25,000 foreign-born residents residing in Champaign County, Welcoming Week is a powerful reminder of the importance of building a community where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued. Taking place from September 12–21, 2025, this year’s Welcoming Week will feature more than 20 inclusive events—from cultural showcases to educational workshops—all aimed at fostering understanding and strengthening community bonds.
