Equity and Engagement Community Relations Manager Janel Gomez facilitated the recent bi-monthly meeting of the Champaign County Welcoming Plan (CCWP). The meeting was also attended by Thomas Yu, City Attorney, and Lieutenant Brian Maloney, representing local law enforcement. Welcoming Plan partners convene regularly to advance the goals of the CCWP and to foster meaningful dialogue around issues important to the Champaign-Urbana immigrant community.
Many partners are preparing to participate in Welcoming Week 2025. Each year, communities around the world celebrate by hosting local events that promote greater understanding and connection among neighbors.
This week-long campaign helps generate awareness, energy, and collaboration needed to support year-round efforts to build more inclusive and welcoming communities.
