Due to the cold weather, the groundbreaking ceremony was held indoors at the John Lee Johnson Clubhouse. Site prep is already underway for the 60-unit affordable housing complex for seniors age 62+. Representatives from the Illinois Housing and Development Authority, the Housing Authority of Champaign County Board and AHDVS, LLC, as well as Mayor Feinen and NSD Director Rob Kowalski, provided remarks during the ceremony. The completed complex will include a community center, media room, and fitness room. The $20M project is scheduled for completion in fall of 2025.
