On November 12, 2024, the Continuum of Service Providers to the Homeless (CSPH) and the Community Coalition hosted the Summit on Homelessness at the Champaign Public Library. Local service providers, City and County staff, neighborhood group leaders, and individuals with lived experience of homelessness were among the 95 people in attendance.
The summit included a keynote address from Christine Haley who serves as the Chief of the Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness, an overview of some of the current homeless services offered in Champaign County, and a roundtable discussion on how to best proceed in both implementing current and new services, and identifying service gaps. Neighborhood Relations Manager John Ruffin serves as the current chair of the CSPH.
