The Countywide Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee presented three awards that upheld the ideals of Dr. King at a celebration on January 17 at The Vineyard Church in Urbana. The event began with hors d’oeuvres at 3:00 p.m. and the program started at 4:00 p.m. The keynote speaker was Dr. Sampson Davis, an Emergency Medicine Physician in New Jersey. Dr. Davis has also appeared on numerous national talk shows, including Oprah, The Today Show, Dr. Oz, Anderson Cooper 360, The View, Tavis Smiley, and NPR.

These awards recognized the positive impact in Champaign County through humanitarian efforts, community service and social justice initiatives.
