Proactive Training Offered on Ways to Prevent and Respond to Hate Crimes Against Places of Worship

Community members and faith-based leaders are invited to attend the Protecting Places of Worship Forum on October 24, 2019, from 1:00-4:30 pm at Sinai Temple (3104 W. Windsor Rd, Champaign).  Presented by the United States Department of Justice Community Relations Service, the Forum will provide information and practical safety tips on ways to prevent or respond to hate crimes against places of worship. Federal and local law enforcement, criminal justice, and other experts will provide an overview of religious hate crimes, emergency planning for places of worship, fortifying places of worship, and preventing and responding to active shooter situations.

The Forum is free and open to the public, and participants are asked to register online at bit.ly/ProtectingPlaces by October 21, 2019.

The Protecting Places of Worship Forum is facilitated by the United States Department of Justice Community Relations Services and hosted by the City of Champaign, City of Urbana, University of Illinois, and Sinai Temple-Champaign.
