The City of Champaign has received $23,289.50 in incentives from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s (DCEO) Public Sector Energy Efficiency Program. The City qualified for these incentives by installing energy efficient HVAC equipment in Fire Station 5 (1810 N. Mattis Avenue) and the Police Department. Each piece of equipment was required to meet certain levels of energy efficiency to be eligible for these incentives. Public Works contracted with Reliable Mechanical Co. for the installations. A new furnace and condensing unit was installed in Fire Station 5 in December 2013 and Police received a new chiller in April 2014. Clark Dietz engineered and designed the HVAC improvements at both facilities.
